DAVIES, MORGAN
(bu farw 1857), sexton of Llanelltyd, Merioneth, and minor poet
(Dolgelley, 1853), which contains the poems of his friend Morris Davies (
Meurig
Ebrill, 1780 - 1861); his name appears also in the list of subscribers to that volume. He was acquainted with Robert Davies (Bardd Nantglyn, 1769 - 1835) and Edward Davies (Iolo Trefaldwyn, 1819 - 1887); poems to him by both of them appearing in NLW MS 672D. He was buried at Llanelltyd, 23 September 1857.
DAVIES, MORRIS
(Meurig Ebrill; 1780 - 1861), poet
; they include englynion and about a dozen carols. His first publication, Diliau Meirion, appeared in 1853, followed next year by a second part; this latter has a preface by Griffith Griffiths (Gutyn Ebrill). His third published work, which appeared in 1855, bears the title Hanes Teithiau a Helyntion

school and Jesus College, Oxford (B.A. 1830, proceeding M.A. later). Ordained deacon in 1832 and priested in 1833, he served as curate at Llansantffraid Glyndyfrdwy, Denbighshire, and Aberdovey, before he was given by Sir Watkin Williams Wynn (in 1843) the living of Rhosymedre
ELLIS, DAVID
(1736 - 1795), cleric, poet, translator, and transcriber of manuscripts
Born 31 August 1736, son of Ellis and Elizabeth David, Hafod-y-meirch, Dolgelley. He received his early education at Ystrad
Meurig
, and matriculated 14 November 1763. He proceeded to Jesus College, Oxford, 12 March 1764, but for some unknown reason he left on 30 June in that same year. He was ordained deacon at Bangor on 22 July 1764, and priest a year later. Ellis held curacies at Llanberis
EVANS, DAVID
(1830 - 1910), archdeacon of St Asaph
Born 1830 (christened 24 June) at Goitre, Llanrhystud, Cardiganshire, son of John and Mary Evans, and educated at Ystrad

Born 30 November 1827 in London. He moved when very young with his parents to the Tregaron, Cardiganshire, district. He began to preach at Swyddffynnon c. 1834. He was educated at Ystrad

, Accrington Academy, and the University of Glasgow, and ministered at Grosvenor Street, Manchester, 1851-8, and Greenfield, Llanelly, Carmarthenshire, 1858-70. He was editor of the Llanelly Telegraph, 1860
EVANS, EVAN
(1882 - 1965), businessman

Meurig
Davies in Jewin Chapel, and they had one son. He died at his home in Guildford Street, 24 July. 1965, and was interred in the graveyard of Gwynfil Chapel, Llangeitho.
EVANS, EVAN

EVANS, HAROLD MEURIG

Evans was born in Hendy, near Pontarddulais, Carmarthenshire on 5 March 1911, the only child of Henry James Evans, a miner, and Sarah Evans.
