BARSTOW, Sir GEORGE LEWIS (1874 - 1966), civil servant, president of University College Swansea University College Swansea from 1929 to 1955. Appointed C.B. in 1913, Barstow was knighted in 1920. The University of Wales awarded him an honorary LL.D. in 1937. In 1904, Barstow married Enid Lilian Lawrence and they had two sons and a daughter. He died at his home, Chapel House, Builth, on 29 January 1966.
BELL, ERNEST DAVID (1915 - 1959), artist and poet words for Wyth gân werin (Enid Parry) which appeared in 1947. In 1953 he published The Language of Pictures, a book (to quote the preface) 'not intended to increase anyone's knowledge of the world's masterpieces or of contemporary pictures … but rather to enrich the experience of people, when confronted by a picture, with some understanding of what the painter is trying to say and how he says it.' BERGAM, Y (fl. 14 c.), poet, vaticinator In the MSS he is known as ' Y Bergam o Faelor ' (Bergam from Maelor) and in an extent prepared for the Black Prince in 1352 reference is made, in connection with Pennant in Eifionydd, to Gafael mab Bergam (the holding of Bergam's son). BOWEN, DAVID (Myfyr Hefin; 1874 - 1955), minister (B) and editor married (2) Elizabeth Bowen, Halfway, Llanelli, who died in 1937 leaving two daughters, Rhiannon and Enid. He died 22 April 1955, and was buried in the new Horeb cemetery.
BOWEN, EDWARD GEORGE (1911 - 1991), developer of radar and an early radio astronomer was impossible in Wales, he provided facts that misproved their claims and Wales had its radio system. He married Enid Vesta Williams of Neath in 1938 and they had three sons. He died 12 August 1991 at Ashley House Nursing Home, Chatswood, Sydney, Australia and his funeral was held in Northern Suburbs crematorium 16 August.
DAVIES, DANIEL JOHN (1885 - 1970), Independent minister and poet Welsh Independents and his address from the chair was published in the Union's annual report for 1957. He was one of the editors of the Caniedydd Cynulleidfaol which was published in 1960. He retired from his ministry at Capel Als in 1958. He died 4 June 1970. His ashes were buried in Glandŵr cemetery. His likeable and talented wife, Enid, was the daughter of D. Stanley Jones, minister of the
HUGHES, ARWEL (1909 - 1988), musician subsequently arranged by the composer for male voices. He married in 1940 Enid P. Thomas, and they had two sons, Ieuan and Owain, and a daughter, Delun. Owain came to prominence as a professional conductor, and the composer's grandson, Meuryn Hughes, established the imprint Aureus to publish his grandfather's works. He died in Cardiff on 23 September 1988 and his remains were cremated at Thornhill
ILLINGWORTH, LESLIE GILBERT (1902 - 1979), political cartoonist 1968. From 1940 until 1963 he lived in Knightsbridge with his housekeeper and companion Enid Ratcliff, later moving to Horley in Sussex. He never married. He was voted political and social cartoonist of the year by the Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain in 1962, was first President of the British Cartoonists' Association in 1966 and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Kent in 1975
JONES, EMYR WYN (1907 - 1999), cardiologist and author for due recognition of the Welsh language within the health service. In 1936 he married Enid Llywelyn Williams (1909-1967), daughter of Dr David Llewelyn Williams and sister to Alun Llywelyn-Williams. They had one daughter, Carys (b. 1937) and one son, Gareth Wyn (b. 1940). During the intense bombing of Liverpool in the Second World War, the family moved first to Enid's parents' house in Old Colwyn

JONES, ROBERT (Trebor Aled; 1866 - 1917), poet and Baptist minister 1905. He published Fy Lloffyn Cyntaf, sef Casgliad o Gynyrchion Prydyddol, 1894; Cofiant y Diweddar Thomas Jones, Llansannan, 1901; Awdl Geraint ac Enid (Testyn y Gadair, Eisteddfod Frenhinol Genedlaethol Rhyl, 1904, 1905); Pleser a Phoen, sef Cyfrol o Farddoniaeth yn y Llon a'r Lleddf, 1908; Talhaiarn, 1916. He died 7 January 1917.
JONES, THOMAS HUGHES (1895 - 1966), poet, writer and teacher elder there in 1936. He married in 1934 Enid Bumford from Llanfair Caereinion, a college friend. He left his post with the Commission for the Protection of Rural Wales in 1932 for a part-time post, teaching Welsh, at Newtown grammar school. He also held external classes in Newtown.
