DAVIES, JOHN (Ossian Gwent; 1839 - 1892), poet derived from his brother-in-law, T. W. Davies of Rhymney. There is an obituary notice by T. Twynog Jeffreys in the S. David's Day issue of Y Geninen, 1894, 33-7. Islwyn wrote a short prologue for the Caniadau; it is probable that he and Ossian Gwent knew each other well. GRIFFITHS, DAVID ROBERT (1915 - 1990), Baptist minister and Biblical scholar D. R. Griffiths was born in Brynhyfryd, Pentre, Rhondda in 1915. He was the son of the Reverend Robert Griffiths, minister of Moriah Baptist chapel, Pentre, and Mrs Mimah Griffiths, daughter of David Davies, Maes Twynog, Llanwrda. JEFFREYS, THOMAS TWYNOG (1844 - 1911), poet his house for more than fifteen years before his death, on his birthday, in 1911. He published in 1904 a small volume of his poetry, Tannau Twynog; and in 1911 a memorial volume, Twynog, appeared, edited by Dyfed (Evan Rees). Thomas Ieuan Jeffreys-Jones was his grandson.
