(Gorfyniawc o Arfon; 1814 - 1878), musician
WILLIAMS, OWEN
(Owain Gwyrfai; 1790 - 1874), antiquary
alone. He died at Fron Heulog, Waun-fawr, 3 October 1874, and was buried in Betws Garmon churchyard. Ioan

and other friends of his collected fifty pounds to provide a suitable tomb-stone and this was unveiled, 7 March 1879. In 1904 his son, Thomas Williams, published some of his works, together with the story of his life, in Gemau Gwyrfai; and in 1911, he published another book, Gemau Môn ac
WILLIAMS, ROBERT
(Trebor Mai; 1830 - 1877), poet
celebrated as a writer of englynion, of which his collected works published in 1883 contain over a thousand examples, in addition to fifty poems in the free metres, one awdl, and a number of pieces in the cywydd and hir a thoddaid metres. Among his literary associates were Gwilym Cowlyd, Dewi

WILLIAMS, WILLIAM GILBERT
(1874 - 1966), schoolmaster and local historian
prominent place in the public life of the county. He was elected an elder of Horeb (Presb.) in 1909, and Moderator of
Arfon
Presbytery, and he recieved a Gee medal c. 1962 for his work in the Sunday school over a very long period. He was an historian of note who gave many lectures in the surrounding districts on local history, and he was one of the founders and president (1947-57) of Caernarfonshire
