DANIEL, JOHN (1755? - 1823), printer Carmarthen in October 1800. He died 10 January 1823, aged 68, and was buried in Llangunnor churchyard; his wife, Ann, had been buried there on 2 April 1822.
DANIEL, WILLIAM RAYMOND (1928 - 1997), association football player Ray Daniel was born 2 November 1928 at Plasmarl, Swansea, the youngest of William and Cissie Daniel's (née Norman) three children. The family lived in a part of the director's house at the British Mannesmann Tube Co., Ltd, steelworks where the father was a storeman. DAVID, JOHN (1701? - 1756), Independent minister he lived at Cilast near Manordivy, Pembrokeshire, and was a well-to-do farmer. He seems to have begun preaching c. 1736, and in 1745 succeeded Lewis Thomas (of Bwlch-sais) as pastor of the churches of Rhydyceisiaid, Carmarthenshire, and Glandŵr, Pembrokeshire. He itinerated over a wide area, reaching as far north as S. Dogmaels; in 1747-8 he had the assistance of Evan Williams (1719 - 1748), of
teulu DAVIES, smiths HUW DAVIES, smith, was living at Groes-foel, Esclusham, in the 17th century. He was buried in the churchyard at Wrexham, 2 September 1702. A handrail of exquisite design in the choir of Wrexham church and a small gate in Malpas churchyard (Cheshire) are attributed to him. Benjamin Davies acquired his rudiments at the hands of his minister Thomas Morgan (1720 - 1799), then went to the Academy grammar school at Carmarthen c. 1754, and finally (1760) became exhibitioner of the Academy itself. DAVIES, BRYAN MARTIN (1933 - 2015), teacher and poet Bryan Martin Davies was born in Brynaman, Carmarthenshire, on 8 April 1933, the son of Horace Davies (1900-1950), coalminer, and his wife Evelyn (née Martin, 1909-1997). He was raised in the close community of this Welsh-speaking coalmining area, and participated in its lively poetic culture which had produced luminaries such as the author of englynion, Gwydderig (Richard Williams), and the poet

DAVIES, DANIEL JOHN (1885 - 1970), Independent minister and poet Born 2 September 1885, at Waunfelen, a cottage in Pentregalar, Crymych, Pembrokeshire, a son of John Morris and Ann Davies. When his father was killed in a rail accident at Boncath station, his mother and her three sons moved to a house named Tŷ-canol, but the mother and the two brothers died soon after and the orphaned boy went to live with his mother's sister at Aberdyfnant, Llanfyrnach.
