WILLIAMS, DAVID PRYSE
(Brythonydd; 1878 - 1952), minister (B), writer, and historian
Seren
Gomer, Yr Athraw, Archæologia Cambrensis, Byegones and Y Geninen, but his essay on the History of Cenarth which won the prize under the adjudication of Sir John Rhys at Newcastle Emlyn eisteddfod in 1902 was not published. During this period he corresponded with a number of contemporary Welsh scholars. While at Treherbert he succeeded in safeguarding the official archives of the chapel and wrote
WILLIAMS, ERNEST LLWYD
(1906 - 1960), minister (B), poet and writer
column for poets in
Seren
Cymru, and was a member of the Carmarthenshire team of poets for the contests of Ymryson y Beirdd. He was also a prolific writer of prose, which may, possibly, prove to be more long-lasting. WILLIAMS, HUGH
(Hywel Cernyw; 1843 - 1937), Baptist minister, writer, and poet
Wales and Monmouth, 1892-3. In 1932 the University of Wales honoured him with the degree of D.D. He wrote a large number of hymns. He was for a time editor of

WILLIAMS, JOHN
(Gorfyniawc o Arfon; 1814 - 1878), musician
Telyn Seion (R. Beynon), for
Seren
Gomer, and for some collections issued by Richard Mills. He adjudicated in various musical festivals and in the Caernarvon national eisteddfod of 1862. He died 27 March 1878, and was buried in the Liverpool Necropolis.
WILLIAMS, JOHN (RUFUS)
(Rufus; 1833 - 1877), Baptist minister and author
arose among some of the Associations. As a denominational historian, he published two series of articles in

Cymru, the one on Baptist Academies (published in volume form in 1863) and the other on the Baptists of Ystradyfodwg (also published in volume form, under the title of Ystradiana, in 1886); he compiled the Glamorgan Association letter for 1873; and delivered a lecture to the Welsh Baptist
WILLIAMS, MARGARETTA (Rita)
(1933 - 2018), lecturer and Celtic linguist
exchange visits between twin towns and villages in Wales and Brittany. Rita was also a longstanding contributor to the editorial page of
Seren
Cymru, the periodical of the Baptist Union of Wales. As a lecturer Rita prioritized the preparation of resources for the study of Breton language and literature, as no such materials existed in Welsh or English. She therefore published dictionaries: Geiriadur Bach
WILLIAMS, PETER
(Pedr Hir; 1847 - 1922), Baptist minister, author, and eisteddfodwr
into one of the most powerful in his denomination, with his homely manner, his rich vocabulary from the Vale of Clwyd, preaching sound evangelical doctrine with a background of enlightened humanism. One can follow his developments, both as regards resources and style, from his article on aesthetics and religion in the

WILLIAMS, THOMAS
(Gwilym Morgannwg; 1778 - 1835), poet
that Gwilym Morgannwg went to Pontypridd to keep a public-house, but he was certainly there in 1813. In Awen y Maen Chwyf, 17, there is a copy of a letter written by him in December 1813 to the publishers of
Seren
Gomer wishing the periodical good luck and offering to send some poetry for publication in it. He died at Pontypridd 13 August 1835, and was buried at Llanfabon. Two books published at

(Gwilym Cyfeiliog; 1801 - 1876), poet and hymn-writer
of Dolgwyddyl, Trefeglwys, who was descended from Elystan Glodrydd; and (3) 1845, to Mary Evans of Tyn-llwyn, Llanbryn-mair. He had ten children - among them Richard Williams of Celynog, Newtown (1835 - 1906). Born 22 November 1768 in the parish of Maentwrog, Merionethshire, and christened in Ffestiniog parish church. He wrote numerous englynion, cywyddau, awdlau, and hymns, many of which were published in Welsh periodicals -
