(Gwilym Eryri; 1844 - 1895?), poet and editor
in the 1880s a volume of the works of
Mary
Davies (1846 - 1882), the Portmadoc poetess, under the title Blodeu Eifion, sef Gwaith Barddonol Mair Eifion. Three of his own poems, which he had submitted in the competition for the chair at the national eisteddfod in 1884, 1887, and 1894 respectively, were published, viz., Awdl ar Gwilym Hiraethog, 1884; Y Frenhines Victoria, 1887; and Hunan Aberth

(fl. c. 1825), ostler and musician
Lived in Tyn-y-maes, near Bethesda, Caernarfonshire and who attended to the horses drawing the London and Holyhead mail coaches. He attended music classes conducted by Robert
Williams
('Cae Aseth'), whom he used to accompany in order to help to conduct in Sunday school at Nant-y-benglog. William Owen, of Prysgol (1813 - 1893), used to visit Tyn-y-maes and received lessons from ' Wil Brych.' He

Born 1 July 1828 at Dowlais, son of Daniel Roberts, minister of Bryn Seion Congregational church (Hanes Eglwysi Annibynnol Cymru, ii, 280-1). From Ffrŵd-y-fâl Academy he went in 1845 to Coward College in London, but almost immediately removed to Carmarthen Presbyterian College. With a Dr.

scholarship (1850) he went up to Glasgow University, where he remained for three years; but though

teacher at Newborough school in 1931 where he spent the rest of his life, as teacher and then headmaster of the school. Broadcasting in Welsh began from Bryn Meirion Bangor in 1935 and W. H. Roberts took part in very many feature programmes produced by Sam Jones, Ifan O.

Born at Wolverhampton, 7 November 1888, son of John Fairs and

Emma Robinson. He was educated at Wolverhampton grammar school and Cambridge University where he was a scholar of Caius College (B.A. 1910). For two years he acted as demonstrator in the School of Agriculture at Cambridge and completed a survey of the soils and agriculture of Shropshire (1913). In 1912 he was appointed adviser in

ROOS, WILLIAM
(1808 - 1878), portrait painter and engraver
The son of Thomas and
Mary
Roose, Bodgadfa, Amlwch, he was christened at Amlwch 30 April 1808. His paintings of 'The Death of Owen Glyndwr' and 'The Death of Captan [sic] Wynn at Alma' were awarded second place at the national eisteddfod held at Llangollen in 1858. He was a popular portrait painter and the N.L.W. holds his portraits in oils of Christmas Evans, John Cox, Thomas Charles, John Jones

ROWLAND, NATHANIEL
(1749 - 1831), Methodist cleric
Pembrokeshire and Cardiganshire. He was a Methodist like his father and appears to have officiated as secretary of the Calvinistic Methodist Association, 1778-97. He was for years the mainstay of Methodism in Pembrokeshire, ministered to the societies formed by his father-in-law, and had charge of Tabernacle, Haverfordwest. William
