RICHARD, EDWARD (1714 - 1777), schoolmaster, scholar, and poet attributed one of Edward Richard's englynion to Dafydd Ionawr. Edward Richard is the author of the englyn which Saunders Lewis has printed in his book, A School of Welsh Augustans, and NLW MS 5487B, 'Diaries of the Rev. RICHARD, THOMAS (1783 - 1856), Calvinistic Methodist minister Gwyn of Maenorowen, niece of David Jones of Llan-gan's second wife. After his marriage he farmed in several places, but c. 1824-5 settled at Fishguard where he spent the rest of his life. He died 3 January 1856 and was buried at Maenorowen. He was one of the outstanding preachers of his generation. There was a charm in his voice that made the country folk rave over him; he could also thunder forth in

RICHARDS, DAVID WILLIAM (1893 - 1949), preacher and philosopher David W. Richards was born 16 May 1893 in Llanegwad, Carmarthenshire, the son of John Richards, a farmer, and his wife Mary. He was educated at Capel Isaac school, Llandeilo County School and University College of Wales, Aberystwyth where he graduated in mathematics in 1914, gaining his M.A. in 1917 for a dissertation on 'The reality of extra-intellectual knowledge with special reference to
RICHARDS, FREDERICK CHARLES (1878 - 1932), artist the Royal Society of Painters-Etchers. In 1911 he was commissioned by Sir Alfred T. Davies, permanent secretary of the Welsh Department of the Board of Education, to copy Sir Edwin Poynter's cartoon of S. David for the Ceiriog Memorial Institute, and in 1913 Messrs. RICHARDS, JOHN (Iocyn Ddu; 1795 - 1864), poet and adjudicator -medd, but died 17 November 1864, before it was finished. He was a schoolfellow of David James (1803 - 1871) and of Joseph Hughes (1803 - 1863) at Ystradmeurig, and throughout his life shared their interests - we have some awdlau of his.
