PARRY, JOHN (1770 - 1820), poet Born 29 June 1770 in a farm called Y Wern, near Llanelian, Denbighshire. He may be the John Parry, son of Edward and Catherine Parry, whose christening is recorded on 31 August 1770 in the bishops' transcripts for the parish of Llanelian. PARRY, JOSHUA (1719 - 1776), Nonconformist minister, and writer Born 17 June 1719 at Llan-gan, Pembrokeshire, of a family that had once been well-to-do, but the father was one of twenty-one children. Parry was educated at Haverfordwest under Evan Davies (1694? - 1770), but before Davies opened the Academy there; he was afterwards at Moorfields under John Eames. An elegy composed on his death by Siôn Dafydd of Penllyn is found in NLW MS 3027E. He appears to have been the possessor of a manuscript copy of Sir John Wynn of Gwydir's work, 'The history of the Gwydir family,' about 1674. He was buried at Llanelian, 26 September 1683.
