EINION ap MADOG ap RHAHAWD (fl. c. 1237), one of the poets of the Age of the Princes Only one poem by him is extant, an eulogistic awdl to prince Gruffydd ap Llywelyn. This is found in Hendreg. MS. and in transcripts of it (B.M. MS. 14,869, Llanstephan MS 31, Peniarth MS 119). It was published in The Myvyrian Archaiology of Wales, i, 391; Anwyl, The Poetry of the Gogynfeirdd, 154; Llawysgrif Hendregadredd, 54-5; and Stephens, The Literature of the Kymry, 371-2.
ELIAS, JOHN (1774 - 1841), Calvinistic Methodist minister, and famous preacher wife died 2 April 1828. On 10 February 1830 in Saint David's Welsh church, Liverpool he married the widow of Sir John Bulkeley of Presaddfed, Bodedern; her maiden name was Ann Williams, of Aberffraw, and she was of humble antecedents. After this marriage he moved to Fron, Llangefni, where he died 8 June 1841; he was buried 15 June at Llanfaes, near Beaumaris. As a preacher, he was undoubtedly the

He married Ann Williams, 19 January 1730, as is shown by a letter in Wynnstay MS 7, and ten of his children are mentioned in the pedigrees, among them the ' William Elias junior ' whose name is found in Wynnstay MS. 7 and also in the Diddanwch teuluaidd. ELLIS, MARY ELIZABETH (Mrs Mary Gwilym Davies) (1881 - 1974), educationalist and peace campaigner Mary Ellis was born on 8 February 1881 in Dolgellau, the daughter of Jane Ellis (née Roberts, 1850-1938) and her husband, Edward Robert Ellis (1851-1890). Two siblings, Ellin (or Ellen) Jane (1875-1882) and Robert Iorwerth (1878-1879) died in infancy, so Mary was raised as the eldest of three.
