DAVIES, MATTHEW (fl. 1620), politician was the eldest son of Edward Davies of Chiches Grove (or Chisgrove), Wiltshire, and of the same family as Sir John Davies (1569 - 1626), poet and lawyer (see D.N.B.). DAVIES, OWEN (1752 - 1830), Wesleyan Methodist minister entered the ministry himself, probably in 1788, and 'travelled' on several English circuits before becoming superintendent of the Redruth circuit in 1798 and chairman of the Redruth district.
