ELLIS, RICHARD (1775 - 1855), musician Born at Dolgelley. He was a shoemaker by trade. He was taught the elements of music by John Williams (Ioan Rhagfyr, 1740 - 1821); when the latter died Richard Ellis succeeded him as precentor at S. Mary's church, Dolgelley. ELLIS, TECWYN (1918 - 2012), educationalist, scholar and author Tecwyn Ellis was born on 24 April 1918 at Cae Crydd, a smallholding on the Pale estate in Caletwr, Llandderfel, Merionethshire, the only child of David John Ellis and his wife Madge (née Edwards).
