WYNNE, SARAH EDITH (Eos Cymru; 1842 - 1897), vocalist the S. James's Hall, the other in the Crystal Palace. She now settled in London and was soon to become one of the best vocalists in the country. In 1862 she sang in the national eisteddfod held at Caernarvon. She toured during 1863-5 with Madam Patti, Santley, and Edward Lloyd, and for eight weeks in 1864 she took the part of ' lady Mortimer ' in Shakespeare's Henry IV at Drury Lane Theatre. She had
YARDLEY, EDWARD (1698 - 1769), archdeacon Although not a Welshman, Yardley deserves a note because of his study of the records of the cathedral of S. Davids, and as the author of the manuscript called ' Menevia Sacra ' (now in N.L.W. in three vols.), which resulted from that study. YORKE, PHILIP (1743 - 1804) Erddig, Erthig,, antiquary -9, he spent three terms at Eton (1759-60), followed, after a year at home, by two years at Benet College (now Corpus Christi), Cambridge (from 10 April 1762), and finishing at Lincoln's Inn (1764). He graduated M.A. 'per literas regias' in 1765, and came down with a strong taste for the classics (especially Virgil) and a bent for antiquities recognised by his election to the Society of Antiquaries
