EDWARDS, THOMAS DAVID (1874 - 1930), musician ), ' Shepherd's Lullaby,' and songs - ' Bugeiles y Glyn ' and ' Cymru.' It was his hymn-tune, ' Rhyd-y-groes,' which, however, made his name best known. He died 15 March 1930 and was buried in Glyn-taff cemetery, Pontypridd.

ELIAS, WILLIAM (1708 - 1787), poet agent to the Wynn family of Glynllifon. He married Ann Williams, 19 January 1730, as is shown by a letter in Wynnstay MS 7, and ten of his children are mentioned in the pedigrees, among them the ' William Elias junior ' whose name is found in Wynnstay MS. 7 and also in the Diddanwch teuluaidd. He moved to Plas-y-glyn, Llanfwrog, Anglesey, in 1774, died there in 1787, and was buried at Llanfwrog 2 July

EVANS, EVAN KERI (1860 - 1941), minister (Congl.) spiritual pilgrimage, by T. Glyn Thomas, was published in 1961. He resigned from the ministry in 1938 and retired to Llanelli where he died 7 June 1941. He was particularly gifted as a translator of hymns.
EVANS, MARY JANE (Llaethferch; 1888 - 1922), elocutionist performed with her own company in Gruffydd o'r Glyn by Alarch Ogwy. Her delight in recitation competitions hindered her from rehearsing with the company. She turned to presenting dramatic recitations on her own or with a soloist so that she could obtain a respite and the audience given some variety. These recitations were very popular both in Wales and in parts of England between 1918 and 1922. The

EVANS, WILLIAM (1734 - 1805), early Calvinistic Methodist exhorter Born at Ystrad, Llangwm, Denbighshire, but the family moved to Fedw Arian, Bala. He was baptised 31 November 1734. He was a freeholder and afterwards bought the farm of Maesgwyn in Llanfihangel-glyn-myfyr, Denbighshire, letting this out in 1781, and afterwards raising mortgages upon it - the last occasion being in 1797, when he mortgaged it to his son Morris for £500.
